Job Description
Do you want to work in a vital community service and contribute to the safety of over a million people? We are now looking for a driven, professional, and unpretentious accounting controller who wants to take the next step and help create good conditions for the Stockholm Fire Department to save lives when accidents occur.
The position is based at the Johannes Fire Station in central Stockholm.
Your Role
As an accounting controller, you will become an invaluable part of the finance function. You will work broadly with everything from accounting and financial statements to participating in exciting development projects. You will be an important sounding board and support for our managers and budget holders in financial matters, helping them achieve clear and accurate follow-ups. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
You will have a particular responsibility for accounting issues and will be responsible for both ongoing bookkeeping and reconciliations related to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. The work also includes:
- Financial statement work and analysis
- Asset register
- Pension analyses and forecasts
- Insurance management
- Financial investigations
- Liquidity planning
- VAT and tax declarations
- Accounts receivable and payable
- Capital investments
- Budget work

Qualifications
You have a genuine interest in accounting and finance and thrive in a role where structure, analysis, and collaboration go hand in hand. You have a post-secondary education in finance with a focus on accounting and bookkeeping or have otherwise built up equivalent knowledge through several years of experience in the field. You have worked for a few years with qualified accounting work and feel confident in financial statement processes. Working in larger financial systems is not new to you, and you use Excel as a natural tool in your daily work.
As a person, you are analytical, self-driven, professional, and structured. You plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively, set and meet deadlines. You thrive in a changing environment, are unpretentious, and have the ability to quickly switch between different types of tasks. You have good communication skills, are service-minded, and easily build trust and good relationships, both internally and externally. To succeed in the role, it is important that you are solution-focused and have the ability to drive processes and implement changes. We want you to be meticulous, take initiative, and contribute to a continuous improvement of our accounting.

Stockholm Fire Department
The Stockholm Fire Department is a municipal association where eleven municipalities collaborate: Danderyd, Lidingö, Nacka, Solna, Stockholm, Sundbyberg, Täby, Vallentuna, Värmdö, and Österåker. The management and support functions of the association are located at the Johannes Fire Station in central Stockholm. The Stockholm Fire Department is responsible for the safety of 1.5 million people. Through cooperation agreements, we respond to alarms and lead rescue operations in a total of 32 municipalities in Uppland, Västmanland, and parts of Södermanland and Gotland. With unique expertise, long experience, and care, we carry out preventive work within potential risk categories, as well as sharp interventions in acute situations – to create a safer society.
